Must remember that I have a ATV not a boat. by techi870 2010-09-20 08:38:50
Took my ATV out with our SAR utility vehicle (Kawasaki Mule) on Saturday for some driving training and trail familiarization. Any time we came across a large puddle on the trail I went first to make sure the Mule wouldn't get stuck. We came across one larger puddle (or small pond) that didn't seem to bad until I got 75% through it. Then the water suddenly got about 8" deeper and decided I really should back out. Just as I put it in reverse the engine spluttered and died.

What followed was me convincing my ATV not to roll over in the deep water while I threw a line to the edge of the puddle so the guys that were in the Mule could pull me out. Then we stopped on the side of the trail for awhile so we could pull the spark plug and get the water out of the cylinder. Thankfully we got it going again so we didn't have to tow it out. Once I got home I changed the oil so now I have a happy machine again.

The water was 2" lower than the fenders.
