Looks like this is actually fairly common. There are a few bugs that cause Kolorpaint to crash. They all involve the selection tool and mouse movement.

I use that tool a LOT and if the mouse is falling out of sync well...

In other news, I just got Kolourpaint working on Win7, so I might not need VirtualBox for that anymore.
