Well, that explains alot... (Mods PLZ read) by tonyz2010-05-12 10:31:52
  Dear tonyz. by Peace_Man 2010-05-12 12:31:40
So you now have a label that can be applied to you - that HAS been applied to you by someone with reason to be knowledgeable.

I can understand that this is a shock. That it makes you re-think and re-examine your life and all your relationships. And I can understand that you will need a bit of time for this. To adjust to the slightly different world-view that you now have accepted.

But YOU haven't changed. You simply have accepted a new viewpoint that you need some time to assimilate. If you felt this site had something to offer you in the past, then it likely has something to offer you in the future. Same with all your other relationships.

You now have a great opportunity. An opportunity to re-examine your current relationships in the light of new information. I'd advise you to get as much information as possible about asperger's, and determine how it applies to you. Actually, given your recent diagnosis, you seem to be very well equipped to do exactly this type of research; enjoy the empowerment.

And don't take just one source - take as many as you can find reliable, and use your unique viewpoint from inside your head to see how they apply to you. Then decide where you want to take the rest of your life. If your recent diagnosis gives you counseling or other assistance, take it. That is one clear benefit of having this thrust upon you; there may be more. Just look around.

Don't burn any bridges. If they were worth crossing before on a regular basis, they are likely to be worth crossing in the future. And burnt bridges smell bad.
