| Being an Aspie isn't the end of the world |

Been there.
There's no need to give up just 'cause you're not God's gift to socialization. There's plenty of socializers out there to take up the slack. If you let them, they will take over your world unless you fight back.
You have to differentiate between the small talk and true conversation. If you learn the sports script (yacking about whatever sport is currently in force), the elevator script (normies can't cope with elevators), the weather script (normies seem to be incapable of looking out the window) and a few others, you can handle small talk.
A little Aspie rudeness can actually be of benefit. Some good one-liners...
(addressed to the crowd standing around the coffee pot blocking the way) "You do realize you're taking your life in your hands getting between a coffee hound and his caffeine, right?"
"Someone with a weight problem like yours probably shouldn't be telling me what or how to eat."
"I thought I'd wait for the stampede around the feeding trough to die down a bit before I start in." |
