after several tests and interviews. Made a lot of things make sense.

Asperger isn't black or white, it's a greyscale that everyone sits on. One of the things required to be diagnosed is that one must have problems related to asperger.
And being "aspie" is surely not only a handicap but also an advantage. As an example there are companies that only hires aspies.

So take a step back and look at things. Have you changed because you now know a diagnose? No! You are still the same.
Also your mother's (wrong-) choices are not yours.

As other wrote, don't confuse asperger with depression (yeah, I've had that too).

And you are correct, all are different. Knowing the diagnose makes it easier to understand how we differ from those in the big grey middle.
