At 36 years old I find out I have Asperger's Syndrome (thanks for keeping that to yourself for so long mom.)
I'm obviously fine, but I'm no longer happy... I'd always thought I was different, but I thought *everyone* was different.
After reading up at length on the subject, I no longer wish to speak to people about *anything* because I now know what I'm not seeing in people and I'm realizing just how socially awkward I truly am.
All I seem comfortable to give anyone anymore is a yes or no answer, and as much as I want to elaborate, I know no one is interested in anything I have to say.
EVER.
So, here I am, heading back into the shell I worked so many years to come out of, I don't want to go back to being withdrawn and sullen, but I can't get this voice out of my head...
"they really *aren't* interested, don't bother... They just asked "______" to be polite..."
So, this is it for me. I'm done. I'm no longer making an effort to reach out to people, I'm done with my wife and her family, I'm done listening, I'm done giving advice, I'm done making the effort to be pleasant, polite, kind, and thoughtful... I'm done with conversation, I'm done helping anyone out in any way I can, I'm done suffering to make everyone else happy.
MODS: This account can be removed, It won't be posting anymore. Let someone who wants to sign up for UF have a chance to succeed here where I have failed.
It's been 11 years and I haven't connected to anyone here in any way. No point in wasting space in ARS for me anymore.
