Ethernet port dead. by kelli217 2010-04-23 21:28:36
My Toshiba Satellite A215-S5802 has not spent a lot of time on a wired connection, and now it looks like it never will. Connecting known-good cables to its port from my router, I get no yellow and no green LEDs, and the computer behaves as though it has no net connection unless I turn on the WiFi adapter. The driver diagnostics say that the controller is working fine, so the problem must be the port itself.

Am I correct in guessing that repair/replacement of the port is an expensive proposition? The laptop is two or three years old by now anyway, so not under warranty.
