RESPONSIBLE for the shooter handling the firearm in a safe manner... If they are not then I am REQUIRED to correct that situation. Most of the time only general commands are necessary such as "STOP!!" "Muzzle" etc. I have grabbed someones arm before to prevent them from sweeping the "peanut gallery" behind them and to keep them from trying to holster a gun with their finger on the trigger when they did not respond to the "STOP!!!!" command yelled at the top of my lungs! In a competition the SO (safety officer) is standing generally about 3 feet from the shooter with a timer... so you are VERY close to them. Safety is the MOST IMPORTANT THING PERIOD full stop...end of statement! I would say that tackling someone would be a last resort but, if necessary to keep someone from sweeping others at the range with a loaded firearm... I would do it with no hesitation.
