a large part of the problem with things like that is that it's a system-on-a-chip implementation, and screwups in one part of the chip force the whole thing to restart. The gateway/router part of the chip has to to a =lot= more thinking than the modem part of the chip, and if the router part stumbles, it can force the whole thing to reset. If it still harfs with a dedicated gateway box, =then= I would recommend a new modem box, but I'd at least try it first.
