Interesting blood sugar results by UGuardian2010-03-01 11:54:20

When diabetics check their bloodsugar, they aren't trying to find the highest peak it climbs to after a meal, they're trying to find the level it settles back down to and stays at for a while after eating. So if you're using advice meant for diabetics to guide you in this experiment, you're probably testing at the wrong time.

If you want to see the peak of how high your blood sugar goes after eating, two hours is probably too long to wait. Especially if you're drinking sugar-water like root beer.

Have a look at this graph -- it shows the glucose response curve for normal, diabetes, and a few different types of hypoglycemia. With the exception of the diabetic, they all appear to have their peak at 30-60 minutes.
