She obviously does not want this pregnancy to result in a baby. I find it highly unlikely for her to deem herself ready for motherhood, given such conclusive evidence. Whether her lack of readyness stems from moral considerations is immaterial. And this doesn't even depend on whether those moral considerations are imposed from outside, or are her own (which would presumably have been imposed during her upbringing?) Whether her judgment of not being ready is from a realization of the responsibilities involved or not isn't even material. The salient facts are still that a young girl is so determined to end her pregnancy that she is ready to go to great lengths, and considerable personal sacrifice, to do so. And isn't able to do so legally. And that the legislative body wants to impose further punishment on her to solve the problem, rather than address the root causes that put her in this situation in the first place.
