Couldn't find the specific article, but it was an interview with Mario Armstrong talking about the push for a national policy expanding broadband coverage throughout the US.
He talked about how "we need to get everyone online -- Connecting kids to their schools from home, first responders able to pull up medical information about patients, etc., etc.,etc."
That could have tremendous positive benefits, but to just say "ZOMG, we must connect all evaryone!!11eleven11!", to facilitate and establish the degree of connectivity *without* having a national privacy policy in place that has *real teeth* to is very dangerous.
(And as I'm typing this, another article goes by with the lead of "Playing Xbox Live? Your actions are being recorded and may be being given to law enforcement."....) |
