Unusual for a cat, but not unheard of. Perhaps he was playing "eat poop you cat"?

He might keep it down or he might puke it back up, but either way he'll probably be fine.

A vet wouldn't do anything now except possibly (if the other cat was a stray or an indoor/outdoor cat) tell you to bring in a sample of CalCat's stool 4-6 weeks from now to see if he picked up any parasites from the other cat.
