What you can discuss is a measure of how by Peace_Man 2010-01-04 07:27:46
close you feel you are to people. Of how much you can trust them.

Certain topics are more sensitive. They are more likely to reveal things that are personal. Those topics are typically not brought up unless you feel very comfortable with everyone in the room. Masturbation touches on sexuality, which is a very intimate and sensitive subject. Elimination is also sensitive. Actually, any activity that only takes place behind closed doors is.

The reason for people feeling nervous - feeling that a subject is inappropriate - is that if someone brings up a subject, it is an invitation - an expectation - for everyone to talk about it. If the subject is a sensitive one, that could be seen as rudely probing for information from someone. Hence the taboo.
