      Oh, well, the entire show is full of stuff that makes about as much sense as that.
        The eighties didn't wash of this at all. And one can see clearly where "2001" has influenced the visuals, and where the show has in turn influenced Code Geass. Just have some more spanish sounding music and it would almost be the same thing.
          Almost. Gundam wing is not quite overblown enough.
            The OP sort of grows on me after a while. (The lyrics are comically out of place for the actual show, I must say.)
