How should/does a radiator control knob work? by oot 2009-12-02 16:29:36
The radiator in my room has a knob with the following markings: blue triangle, red I, II, III, and IIII, and red triangle.

Intuitively, I would expect blue to be "off" and the red numbers to be increasing amounts of heat output.

But it is cold to the touch on I-IIII. On "red triangle" it gets hot, but puts out so much heat I have to open the window. If it's just a boolean on/off, then why are there markings I-IIII in between the triangles?

Am I missing something here?
