Okay, a group playing RIFTS... by firehawk 2009-12-02 14:28:00
...so that should tell you the mindset right there.

A scheme is concocted whereby a horse needs to be rendered unconscious. (I think it was highly trained, and was making noise to get attention because it recognized that our heroes were intruders.)

Our intrepid hero rolls to knock the horse unconscious with a pulled punch. He rolls "1" on the "pull punch" check.

Did I mention the guy can do mega-damage? For those not RIFTS-conversant, mega-damage is reserved for gods, supernatural beings, and tanks (and, seemingly, nearly every weapon in the entire game). One MD punch could rip the turret off an M1A1 Abrams.

Anyway, after cleaning horse brains and blood off his hands (and armor, and face, our intrepid hero is upbraided by his companions. "Dude, they'll know we're here!" "Yeah, man, we've lost the element of surprise!"

Our hero is never good under pressure, especially peer pressure. He promptly drops one of his guns on the ground near the horse and says "maybe we can make it look like a suicide!"
