If the freedom to swing my fist ends at your nose, and I really want to be able to swing my fists as much as I care to, then my objective is to have no noses within reach of my fists. So, I'll advocate things that I know are going to lead to there being less people around, thus lowering the chances that any of them will stick their noses in and limit my freedom of fist-swinging.
