So, I go into the break room to get a plate and a knife so I can cut my sandwich, and CNN is on the TV in there, because we can't be without CNN or have a quiet break room (I don't know who thought having TVs in all the break rooms was a good idea because it's not necessary). And the commentator, a blonde woman, is Framing Her Face With Her Hands and making Gestures of Some Importance but That Have No Meaning In US English. It was such a bizarre display, I didn't know what to make of it.
And then, the camera cuts to a black commentator who first has his left hand near his face (so it's in the shot), making a "it was this big" gesture with his thumb and index finger, and then moves his hand in front of his face in the "Three Stooges Eye Poke Block" position and then extends his hand out towards the camera. I have absolutely no idea what they were talking about, but What The Frell?
I think some director at CNN is on some new drug and is telling the talking heads that "just seeing your head and mouth move isn't interesting enough! I want to see Hands!" |
