your chosen example.

The reasoning behind it is that FOX in no way sponsored the Tea parties so IMO they could not have "made news" or "generated news" on that particular issue. Also, all of the other news medias also reported on the Tea Parties and had varying degrees of accuracy of numbers present.

Other than your chosen example, your argument has some points.
