is like calling a K23P or any of the other no butt-stock, uber short barrel carbines a pistol... legally yes, they are a pistol... otherwise...just a really short barreled carbine.
IMO not practical or reliable enough to drop a large animal. There is a reason that many places will not let you use a .223 size round to hunt with. That and try firing it one handed or carrying one of those in a "holster" for a while and you will just drop it in favor of a real carbine.
