Plasma or LCD for Xbox? by oedlan 2009-10-26 09:27:40
Bright room or fairly dim? by AndyA 2009-10-26 09:50:08
Plasma is generally better for a room with a lot of background light. However you have to be more careful with them when transporting them and if you live somewhere very high up they can have issues.

Most of the time LCD is cheaper and just as good if not better.

Personally I would avoid any of the 120Hz or 240Hz displays, for some things the extra frame rate can make it look smoother but other times it can add some nasty artifacts. They are designed to work well for things like sports TV broadcasts, games are somewhat different. It is guessing what it should display every other frame, if it screws up the guess things look very weird.

Also don't pay extra for HD if you don't need it. Measure how far you will be from the screen, if it's more than 2 1/2 times the screen size then 720p will look identical to 1080p. Less than that and you you will start to see the difference. You have to be about 1 1/2 times the screen size away to get the full benefit of 1080p.
