taking your eldest and middle sisters aside for a "little talk" - and telling them point-blank that you're not going to put up with their attitudes. This weekend is supposed to be pleasant for all the family. Either of your sisters making the rest of you ill-at-ease - for their benefit - is not appropriate behavior. From your post - it is long past time that was said. The reason family dynamic is dysfunctional is because we let it become dysfunctional. We tolerate miserable behavior and thereby give permission for the most destructive and annoying personalities in the family to take control. This is enabling behavior on the part of the functional family members - and it has no place in a family that wants to get along. Should either or both sisters throw a hissy fit - then you have a perfectly valid excuse to either leave or take the conflict to the rest of the family and get a general consensus of what is acceptable behavior and what is not. Should you lose, take your lumps and either go with the consensus - or leave. But don't let bullying behavior like this go unchallenged - or it will continue. And yes, there is wisdom in the idea of "silence is golden". Your sisters are the ones who need to learn this too... :-)
