Bean cooking help by imWACC0 2009-08-26 15:59:05
I making a bag of 16 bean soup.

1 Rinse and sort beans.
2 Soak with a little salt for 12 hours (bag said 8)
3 Dump and new water
4 Boil then turn down, simmer for 2 1/2 hours
5 Add spice, meat, other stuff
6 Serve

Ok, where my problem is at the end of 4. Beans are still tough.
Any ideas? I don't make beans, split pea I do, but not beans.

  I don't know why you couldn't just simmer longer. (n/t) by Llyr2009-08-26 16:06:23
