I'm not claiming that reading the Illiminatus Trilogy will bring the reader to Enlightenment, nor even that it was the intent of Wilson and Shea to do anything with the stories other than to entertain (and maybe blow some readers' minds in the process). The stories, though, follow the Illumination of George Doon, and it is as a vehicle to his Enlightenment that he is presented with the Law of Fives.
