Scared me witless for a few days. The second one has more gameplay/replay value to it, but IMO, the original is a better game in terms of story, dungeon crawlery, and for not overwhelming you with billions of items to try to find/collect. The beauty is in it's simplicity. Not as crude as nethack (and a little easier once you get into it), and has more little bits of story to it than the token story bits in D2. Plus some of the enemies are just downright frightening (Tip: When you get to the butcher, wear headphones and have the volume up...).
When you do get to Diablo 2, be prepared to wear out a mouse or two, and put some pots of coffee on. Also, get the expansion, download the updates, and bring a buddy. |
