However, if you're using double helix, I would recommend knotting the ends of the laces, because in my experience they tend to come out unless knotted. My usual stop knot is a figure 8 just above the aglet. Also, I highly reccomend the Ian's Secure knot for the final tying. It's the only shoelace knot I use now, because it's so simple and yet so secure that my obsessiveness doesn't kick in.
