Ethical Poll by abaron 2009-08-24 15:50:51
Situation A) A new version of a piece of software you use everyday is out. The upgrade is 80% cheaper then the previous full version cost (they also never have done an "upgrade" version before). You have two computer which both use this software, so technically you need to licenses. They've put in a license key so it's not easy to install the same key on both (but possible). How many copies do you buy? 0, 1 or 2?

Situation B) Exactly the same as above, but now there is no copy protection. How many copies do you buy? 0, 1, or 2

Situation C) Same as B, except they also have a "set" that gives you 5 licenses, as long as the computers are at the same residence. This set is cheaper then two singles put together, what do you buy? 1 single, 2 singles, 1 "Set" or nothing

Note, 0 assumes you'll still upgrade, but you'll find the product through illicit means.
