I'm firmly in the 'don't buy it if you can't afford it' camp; the only exception is a mortgage on our house, because I couldn't wait until I was 40 for a place of my own (and renting an equivalent to our house was about 15% less than the mortgage repayments.. no-brainer there) The only other time I've had credit, is where there are short-term 'bait'n'switch' prizes, where I've taken the bait then ran away better off.
