Generally a larger screen makes fonts easier to read (resolution being the same, that is). In this case, if the 14" is really 1600x1200 it's going to require some good eyes to be able to read stuff on it, I've got a 15" screen that does 1440x900 that I find perfectly readable, but I don't think 1600x1200 would be even on that one.

Remember what the numbers mean, resolution means how many dots there are, dimension dictates how far apart (and how small) those dots are. The more dots there are, the smaller it has to be.
