Philosophy Corner: Ontology by MatthewDBA2009-08-24 06:51:21
  I think, therefore I am. by kelli2172009-08-24 11:55:37
What do you mean, "I am?" by bitflipper2009-08-24 12:11:30
      That's exactly my point. by kelli217 2009-08-24 12:33:18
When I say that it may be possible to be, without thinking, that's what I'm talking about.

Given thought, existence follows. Given existence, thought does not necessarily follow, but there is at least the possibility of thought, since those beings who think comprise a subset of those things that exist.

Thought is possibly predicated on the existence not of a thing, but of an "I" to do the thinking. So, in order to have thought, maybe there must be a thing which is capable of a self-concept.
