to post in good taste; the m0ds are here to help deal with those inevitable frictions that arise even between the most intelligent and courteous people, and to deal with those who refuse to restrain themselves to adherance to the community standards we have declared for ourselves. IIRC, the original Rules & FAQ were put together by discussion amongst some of the UFies who--at that time--were among our most respected members, with the discussion being open to anyone who wished to comment. Final authority rests with Illiad, of course, but he's always tried to be accomodating of UFies' views as a community.
But, what's to prevent someone from going into the archives and posting inappropriate comments or something in flagrant violation of our community's rules and standards on a strip that's, say, two years old? Then, that person or someone else links to that strip...
This is an exercise in speculation, mind. Frankly, I don't want to have to ID9k stuff from our own community, nor make more work for the m0ds, nor, I hope, suggest a method for mischief. It was a thought that just wandered across my mind while ID9k'ing a strip that tries to uphold the finest traditions of Bill Waterson's work. |
