If it's not even aware that it thinks, itself, how is it to know that anything else thinks? How is it even to know what thinking is?

It may think--it may show adaptive behavior on a scale sufficient to be evident to self-aware, rational beings--but that doesn't require it to know that it is thinking, itself.
