While true that it does not think about the particular situation described, it may think at other times. We do the same thing. There are actions driven by thought and others that are not. Pulling a hand away from heat or that ritual napkin fold that you don't think about as you do it.

I'd love to devise an experiment where a user had to open one file, prepare a second file to accept the copied section, paste the portion into the second file, and then save the final document. Now let's edit the copy in the buffer slightly while the user works or the second document. How many attempts would the user make before thinking about what is going wrong? Heck, I have users that can't do this task without the experimental complication.
