Generally, sound quality will improve with size
(extended low range and/or max. sound level).

Hiss often comes from the sound card.
I consider Creative "just barely". USB or
will do better than built-in systems.

rant: I'm not a fan of 2.1 systems - in compact sizes, the
sattelites become tinny, with the low midrange coming from
the sub (in mono).

Is there an instrument/musicians store in your area?
They may have products to suit your needs, set up so
you can hear before you buy.
