I'm not sure I recognize the term - certainly not the way it is used here.
"... a kind of tumour and excrescence on the universe ..." does not sound like something my understanding of a soul can make itself. Also, "the order of things" is defined so vaguely that I have great trouble to see how a soul can chafe against it.
As for "actively oppose another to its hurt" - that's what people do to each other, not souls. And pleasure is self-violence? I can see pain as such, but pleasure as well?
Maybe my understanding of the language is lacking, or maybe this language is so out of date that it has little relevance in today's world, but I see this as vaguely puzzling, and not illuminating at all. |
