Considering that many of our languages have a only a very small number of common sources (ie, just a few roots for a large number of languages), cross-over seems not all that significant.

One would have to study the etymology of each word in question for each language to be able to use that common words in different languages are prima facie evidence of it being similar concepts and interpretations.

The word having a common root does not necessarily mean it has a common interpretation.
