evidence that it does, other than that cultures seem generally to have ideas about it (even if they disagree on what it is, or means) - that might suggest that it's something fundamental.
And given that my definition of "equality" referred to characteristics that were specific to sentient beings in general, and humans (or intelligent beings) in particular, that would seem to limit the scope of its applicability. |
