Both Jaqie and I have had that. Me with being Aspie, her with being TS.

People have this tendancey to band with their neighbours if they are 'just like us' ...ie the average or the norm. but if you have something slightly different, those same people lending you that cup of sugar or watching your place for burglars are telling their kids to stay away from x, or turning a blind eye when the local kids are setting off your car alarm every 5 mins cos its 'funny', or whatever.
