Is murder not the ultimate violation of a person's freedom to act as they will? Same with any other kind of violence, or threat of violence - is it not a serious violation of a person's freedom to be secure in their body, and to do what they will with it?

Child abuse is a slightly different case. Children are not yet adult, and must have their freedom curtailed by their legal guardians until they learn responsible behaviour. This must be differentiated from child abuse; other than that, child abuse is also violence. More heinous because it happens to those vulnerable and still learning, therefore more serious.
