| Hmm.. new internets plus new router == not working |

So, I have a working internet connection via cable (Cox Cable). I can plug my computer directly into the cable modem's Ethernet port and get a DHCP-assigned address from the cable company. Net works great (as evidenced by this post).
Went out and picked up a new wired/wireless router (Linksys WRT310N). The installation CD is Linux-unfriendly, and has no discernible manual on it (must be within one of the Windows binaries or something).
I disconnect my computer from the cable modem and plug it into one of the switch ports on the router, and plug the router's 'Internet' port into the cable modem. There are link lights everywhere...
I can successfully browse to the web interface on the router, and attempt to have it get a DHCP address from the modem. No joy. No obvious configuration requirements, no username or password required.. but it isn't getting an address.
Unplug the router, and restore the direct link to my computer -- internet connectivity restored.
Any ideas? |
