So I clarify: say you were 13-15 years old, and saw by coincidence some costume drama, and stayed with it for some reason to discover that it did not suck as you had previously expected.
You may even have seen the trailers and have prepared yourself to be thoroughly bored, but the flick you ended up seeing failed to bore as much as expected, and even dished out some awesome.
Case in point: Peter Jackson's "heavenly creatures." It's about lesbians who plot to kill their mothers.
This movie has everything going against it from the start:
Based on a true story.
It's a period piece.
It has lesbians but no sex scene.
It was nominated for the oscars. (Don't remember if it won.)
Sounds awful, don't it? But it isn't. It has clay monsters!
Can you remember any of those? Why did you expect it to be utter failure, and why was it good? |
