They're not, any more than conservatives are all abortion-doctor-killing, religiously overzealous, gay-bashing, science-hating, jacked-up-pickup-driving rednecks.
You have to understand that just because you believe what you do, that doesn't make you right and everybody else wrong. It doesn't mean you need to make fun of those who disagree as if they are children, idiots, or elves living in a fantasy world. It doesn't mean that you somehow understand the universe in some fundamental way, and that others don't.
And there are people who agree with you on some things and disagree on others. The world isn't divided into two camps...it's divided into a bunch of them, all overlapping, and all have at least a few people just as smart as you and I and everybody else here in them.
You're a gun dealer, I get it...you're in favor of preserving the Second Amendment. So am I. And I'm not a Republican. *shock, gasp* OMG!
So please, lose the smug "you're not hard-right, so you're a liberal, and I will therefore poke you with a stick" mentality, and we all might find a little more common ground.
