Make sure they are fully and completely informed, since that guy will probably give them his side. Believe this please, the one thing management will NOT forgive is if you let this blind-side them.

I caused a boss to get blind-sided in a staff meeting once. I had fixed the problem and there were no repercussions, so I just didn't mention it to him. Someone asked him about it in the morning staff meeting, and he looked dumb. It took him three years, and eliminating the entire overnight shift to do it, but he got me.
