why mail-tampering is a federal offence.
I got a letter from the government just after midday. It seems that they sent me a form out on the 9th of last month as part of an audit of my meagre income from the Christmas period. I never got it. This was a second form, a follow up politely demanding that I turn over all relevant materials by the 23rd of March or face penalties and potential legal consequences. This letter was mailed on the 30th of March (Odd enough in and off itself that the government expects me to travel through time).
Obviously I gathered up all my personal details and ran like a screaming lunatic into the nearest branch of this particular government agency to let them know that I had failed to receive their letter. They were quite understanding (and tend to be so when you're calm and collected) and they could indeed confirm that a form was sent out on the 9th of March (nevermind I was never told about it the last two times I had been in there, but, nobody's perfect).
So: mess cleared up, let's see what the post-office has to say about this...
You see, this is not the first time we have been allegedly sent something only to have it not arrive. It is however, the first time we have been able to confirm that the original has been posted and not arrived. Over a period of six to eight months official communications of all kinds have been going missing between the sender and my mailbox, perhaps even being pilfered from said mailbox before they can be collected. Notifications of doctor's appointments and letters of referral, bank statements, even a letter from my mother's former bank that they still had some of her money from an account that was closed fifteen years ago. We just thought it odd, never really much of a nuisance.
Then this happened. You see. I am currently unemployed, my mother is on a pension. Between us we JUST manage to pay for all the rent food and bills and have maybe enough left over to eat takeout once a week or save for other essentials like clothes and such. When things that have the potential to leave me homeless or land me in prison should they be not addressed in a timely fashion go missing, I start thinking gruesome thoughts about what I would enjoy doing to whomever may be responsible when I find them (actually we have a suspect but no evidence).
The post-office has been informed. Additionally, next week I will be opening a PO box that's for d4 sure, and I hope that they find the party responsible for all this and string them up by their toenails!
As of right now I think that mail tampering should be considered a capital crime, not just a federal one. |
