For all that he's bashed in geekland, the guy is _very_ clever. He's the guy who talked the world into thinking that 1's and 0's make a viable product.

He may have made a few mistakes in technical choices, but those old computers we all used to learn linux on were only cheap enough to be able to experiment with because of him.

The Woz and Jobs made personal computers a reality; Gates made them cheap. People may demonize him right at the moment, but 30 years from now people are going to think of him like Thomas Edison, Henry Ford and Eli Whitney.

His name is going to be in the history books right next to Linus Torvalds.
