was really into serial #'s and it has spread from there. Germany and other nations that sell arms legally worldwide do the same mainly for warranty reasons.

I will agree, China is a biggie as far as making knockoffs and selling them to anyone with $$. The firearms from China that are imported *legally* to the U.S. must have serial numbers and meet specific requirements. One of which, in most cases, is lack of a full auto option.
