NC was similar, but it was a failure of a number of businesses. It spread the load around, as it were. No single business had an overwhelming impact.
Afterwards, new businesses were able to start picking up the slack.
With MS, it's one company, and no single company could place it.
It would be like digging a spadeful of dirt from a field in 1000 places, vs blowing a hole in the middle of the field -- with the 1000 holes, water, dust, bugs, etc all quickly start filling in the hole. With the single BIG hole, you're fornicated.
