as carbon? Do the seperate atoms that make up gasolene behave in the same manner seperately as they do in the molecule that makes up gasolene?

The *bulding blocks* that make it up may be the same but the behavior of it because of where and how the atomic bonds are makes it behave differently. Think about it like this. You have a pile of 2x4's and some lumber sheeting and roofing material. seperately they are just materials...together, they make a house. A house does something entirely different than a pile of lumber and other materials. A house can protect you from the elements...a stacked up pile of lumber...not so much.

His statement is based on a mindset and not on reality. The second you apply reality to it, it falls apart because to even be able to understand the concept he is talking about...it is proven false.
