    It's more a mind/body question, I think by MatthewDBA2009-04-02 10:01:17
This strikes me as a subset of a larger question by PeKaJe 2009-04-02 10:59:48
How can we ever determine that anything we experience is real? With philosophy alone, one can only go as far as "I think, therefore I am". Everything else requires one to make assumptions, such as "the universe is real, can be described with predictable rules, and we can learn something about it".

Once those assumptions have been made, we must also accept any conclusions that follow from trying to learn about the universe. To do otherwise would be to question the original assumption, which, while interesting from a philosophical perspective, doesn't really get you anywhere.
